Soi 8 Photos (Part 2)
This is the forth and last page of this
tour. If you have arrived here you may like to go back to the
initial page of the Soi 7 and
8 tour.
Like previously stated Soi 8 is quite busy
in the daytime. However it is night-time when it is most
busiest and when most foreigners are around. During the day it
is mainly Thais going about their business on Soi 8, and 7 for
that matter. Because of that most of the business is aimed at
the Thais as far as the hawkers are concerned. At night
you will still see stuff being sold to the tie but there are a
lot of hawkers trying to sell stuff to farangs.
The hawkers can be a real pain at times on
both Soi 8 and 7. They sell everything from fake watches to
pirate movies to wallets and belts to just about anything you
would like to mention. You will also have people would want to
clean your shoes while you have a drink. Then there are the
people who want to take your photo and charge the 100 baht for
the pleasure. Some of these people carry around snakes and
monkeys for you to have your photo taken with. These hawkers
can become very annoying at times.
One thing that may sadden you to see are
children out late at night. You may see a mother (it may not be
the child's mother at all) carrying an infant begging for
money. Often you'll see children as young as maybe 5 or 6
selling incandescent bracelets and chewing gum. You can see
these children out late at night. Most of them are not Thai but
usually from Laos. These children will climb on you and pull at
you. Be very careful with the contents of your pockets when
they are around.
Anyway on with the show. We have now entered
the soi that joins Soi 8 with Soi 7. Immediately on the left is
the only beer bar complex on this soi.
You can see the bars a little better in this
photograph.
And better again in this one.
This one looks back towards Soi 8.
Here you can see the intersection with Soi
7.
Looking back towards Soi 8.
This building is of a very different design
than anything else in the area.
Now we are back on Soi 8 and heading towards
Second Road.
The first door is of Sexy Girls Agogo
The Sunbeam hotel is another large hotel on Soi
8.
The Eastiny Group also has the Eastiny Palace
Hotel on Soi 8
Looking back towards Beach Road.
Feeling like having a drink yet!!??
That brings us to the end of Soi 8.
The next few shots are taken along Second
road.
We walk a little towards Soi 7.
The 7-eleven sign is at the entrance of Soi
8.
The 7-eleven sign in the next photograph is at
the entrance of Soi 7.
Here is the entrance of Soi 7.
Just backing up a bit the next photo was
taking at the corner of Soi 9 and Second Road. It is at this
intersection that the bars stop. Behind the camera on the same
side of Second Road there is a large shopping complex being
developed. In the past there were bars on Soi 9 but not now as
they were demolished to make space for the shopping complex.
Will Soi 7 and 8 face the same fate?
That is the end of this tour and thanks for
you company. For some photographs of this area at night you can
see the Pattaya Night
Photos section.
